I believe that social media is the antidote to the Koch Brothers, mega-PACs and "Citizens united." It works because dollars cannot go to the polls and because, over time, facts trump b.s. especially when they are heard from known friends and associates. People vote and people can change their mind when told the truth in a persuasive manner.
What I am saying is that we do not have to settle for victimization in the 2016 congressional race in the 32nd district of Texas. The incumbent is a Tea Party nut cake who is now living in Florida unless the 400 sq. ft. efficiency apartment he is renting, but has never been seen coming to or going from, is considered the "residency" the Founders had in mind when they wrote the Constitution.
There are members of the Republican Party who are as ashamed of what is happening in Washington, at the hands of Tea Party extremists, as are Democrats and independent. We all have a stake in seeing him sent packing. These people remember when Republicans worked with Democrats to work our way out of the Great Depression, win WWII, end segregation and build a middle class. They are tired of the bickering...tired of the brainless anti-government rhetoric, which has resulted in our veterans having to depend on charity because this Congress is more willing to give tax breaks to fat cats than fully fund the V.A.
But, the key is for everyone to be a stakeholder. There is not enough money in the world available to a challenger to run a same-old, same-old campaign. We have to go asymmetical, which is where the Daily Kos family comes in.
Who fills the Texas 32nd C.D, seat us not a local issue. When he throws a monkey wrench into the works in the House every American suffers. But if we all decide to be stakeholders in giving him the bum's rush everyone will benefit.
It matters little if you are for Bernie or Hillary. Whichever one wins, how much they can actually get done is impacted by who we send to Congress. Do we want either of them to be saddled with a House like Obama has had to face? I don't, so let's see if we can leverage social media and a few dollars to get a fresh face in Congress who will be the representatve of all the people.
